The monument to the first ships of the Black Sea Fleet was erected in the city of Kherson in 1972 on the embankment along Ushakov Avenue. It was at this place in 1783 that the Kherson shipyard was located, from which on September 16 the 66-gun battleship Slava Ekaterina was launched, which became the first ship of the Black Sea Fleet.
