A village in the Volkhov Municipal District of the Leningrad Region, the administrative center of the Staroladoga rural settlement. Until 1703, Ladoga was a city. In 2003, the 1250th anniversary of Staraya Ladoga was celebrated, during which the village was proclaimed as the "ancient capital of Northern Rus".
